William Hobbayne Charity is a great admirer of the efforts of David Blackwell our local Historian who has spent many, many years collating and researching Hanwell’s history. David has monthly sessions at Hanwell Library displaying his findings.
We had an SOS to raise some funds for David to support his costs throughout the year. We were tasked with raising £900. The Charity offered a grant of £500 and with a call out to the local community the offers of help came flooding in. The additional £400 was raised by residents baking cakes for a cake sale, selling clothes on vinted, donations and without doubt the superstar of the show was a local child Holly who sold ice creams from her garden. Holly and Councillor Polly Knewstub presented David with a cheque for £400 and David expressed how deeply grateful he was for the support which will enable him to continue his great work for the community of Hanwell.
