We said a sad but fond farewell to the ponies in the last couple of years. Freddie and Lulu enjoyed the paddock at Billets Hart Allotments for many years and were lovingly cared for by their owner Sandy and supported by some local residents.
Sandy decided to retire them to pastures greener and they are now happily enjoying life in Doncaster at the Police Horse Retirement Home and are very happy with lots of green spaces for them to enjoy. They have been a real feature for local families for many years and we will all miss them.
The demand for growing spaces on our green spaces continues with a long waiting list. The Paddock has been transformed into small allotment plots to enable more local residents to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
There are twelve 18sqm plots in total. Nine 9m x 2m and three 6m x3m plots.
The plots are pegged out and allotment holders will be able to design and set up their plots as they wish; ground bed, edged bed or raised bed.
We look forward to seeing these growing spaces taking shape very soon!
